Letter-from-rose-copper
A letter from Rose, Rowan & Rose, Sydney. October 2026
Her jewellery box is full of pretty things that went dull, turned green or broke. The one piece she still wears every day is the oldest.
On why I chose copper for the last collection in our shop, what makes it different from everything else in your jewellery box, and why it is priced the way it is in our Retirement Sale.
Every piece starts as raw copper.
I am Rose. For years my husband and I have sold clothes. But in all that time, the thing women asked me about most was not a dress. It was the bracelet on my wrist.
It is copper. Plain, warm, a little darker than when I first put it on. It has outlasted three handbags, two cars and every piece of fashion jewellery I ever bought.
Most jewellery today is made to look good for a season. A thin layer of colour over cheap metal. It is lovely in the shop, and then the plating wears off, the colour fades, and it ends up at the bottom of the box.
Copper is the opposite. It does not pretend to be anything. And it gets better the longer you wear it.
So for the last collection in our shop, I chose copper. Bracelets, rings and necklaces in pure copper, shaped and finished by hand, one at a time. Here are six things I want you to know about it.
99.9% pure copper. Nothing added, nothing hidden.
Solid copper, all the way through.
This is the thing I checked first. Every piece in the collection is 99.9% pure copper. Not copper-coloured. Not copper-plated. Solid copper, all the way through. There is no coating to wear off, because there is no coating.

"I've worn mine every day for months. It still looks like copper because it is copper."
Sara, Melbourne
Shaped and finished by hand, one at a time
Small marks of the hand that made it.
Every piece starts as raw copper and is shaped by hand, finished by hand, one at a time. That means no two are exactly alike. Look closely and you will see the small marks of the person who made it. That is not a flaw. That is the point.
★★★★★
"You can tell it was made by a person, not a machine. It feels special to wear."
Angelique, Sydney
It gets better with age, like the best things do
Copper is a living metal. Over weeks and months it develops a warm patina, a deeper, richer colour that is entirely your own. Some women love that aged glow. Others prefer the bright shine. A little lemon juice and salt brings it back in a minute. Either way, it never looks worn out. It looks lived in.
★★★★★
"I love how it's darkened. It looks like it's been mine for years."
Miriam, Sydney
Worn for thousands of years, for good reason
Copper is one of the oldest metals people have worked and worn. Across centuries and cultures, women and men have come back to it again and again. I will not tell you it will cure anything. I make no promises like that, and you should be wary of anyone who does. I only know that the people who wear copper tend to keep wearing it.

"My grandmother always wore a copper bangle. Now I do too. It feels like a tradition."
Mariette, Palm Beach
Warm on every skin tone
Copper sits beautifully against the skin.
Gold can look harsh. Silver can look cold. Copper has a soft, warm glow that flatters almost every skin tone, and it goes with linen, denim and every earthy colour in our shop. It looks just as right with a white shirt as with an evening dress.
★★★★★
"It goes with everything I own. The warm colour is so flattering."
Lisa, Palm Beach
Bracelets, rings and necklaces, for her and for him
Pieces for women and for men.
Delicate rings and fine chains. Textured bangles and wide cuffs. And a range of heavier bracelets for men, if you are looking for a gift for a husband, a brother or a son. A copper piece is one of the few gifts that gets more personal the longer it is worn.

"Bought a ring for me and a bracelet for my husband. We both wear them every day."
Lisanne, Parramatta
Copper, against what is in your jewellery box
| Fashion jewellery | Our Copper Collection | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Thin plating over cheap metal | 99.9% pure copper |
| Made | Mass-produced by machine | Shaped and finished by hand |
| With age | Fades, flakes and looks cheap | Develops a warm, rich patina |
| Care | Can't be restored once it wears | Lemon and salt bring back the shine |
| Lifespan | A season or two | Made to be worn for years |
One honest note, because you deserve honesty. Pure copper can sometimes leave a faint green tint on the skin, especially in hot, humid weather. It is completely natural, it washes off with soap, and it is a sign the copper is real. A thin coat of clear nail polish on the inside stops it if it bothers you.
I refuse to sell a woman jewellery that is designed to be thrown away. That is the whole reason copper is the last collection in our shop.
Why the prices are what they are
The Copper Collection is part of our Retirement Sale. Rowan and I are slowing down, and we would rather these pieces go to women who will wear them than sit in a drawer.
Because every piece is made by hand, there are only so many of each. When a design is gone, there will not be another one like it.

I have watched a lot of women pick up a copper bracelet for the first time. They weigh it in their hand. They turn it towards the light. Then they slip it on, and they do not take it off again.
That is what copper does. It becomes yours.
Go and find the piece that is meant for you.
With love,
Rose, Rowan & Rose
